About Give 250 Connecticut
In 2026, the United States will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the country. The America 250 | CT Commission, administered by CT Humanities, has been tasked with guiding this milestone in the state of Connecticut.
As part of that effort, the commission seeks to empower all of Connecticut's 169 municipalities to plan commemorative programming that meets their own unique needs. Give 250 Connecticut will allow municipalities to raise funds for use in their 250th programming. All funds raised through this giving event will support programming around the state. From parades to potlucks, ceremonies to scavenger hunts, essay contests to community art, commemoration of the 250th will be as varied as the cities, towns, and communities that make up Connecticut.
Information about the America 250 | CT Commission:
Governor Ned Lamont established Connecticut’s Semiquincentennial Commission by Executive Order 22-2 on July 2, 2022. Guided by its four themes—Tell Inclusive Stories, Power of Place, For the Common Good, and Doing History—the commission is paving the way for an inclusive commemoration that provides space for all Connecticut residents to consider their relationship with this country.
